Karl-Ragnar Åström was a Swedish inventor and entrepreneur born on February 9, 1920, in Brännland. He created Sweden's first front loader and founded Ålö AB. After taking over the family farm in 1940, he invented the front loader called Snabbe in 1947. Åström launched his company, initially called AB Ålö-Maskiner, with Alf Lövgren. He developed the world's first quick coupler front loader and expanded into manufacturing accessories, making Ålö a significant export firm until his retirement in 1978.
