Karl Schröder (1912-1996) was a German cameraman known for his work in film and television. He trained at the Bavarian School of Photography and began working on culture films with UFA in the 1930s. After WWII, he made several short documentaries before directing his first feature film, in collaboration with director Rolf Thiele, in 1954. Schröder later adapted Böll's work for television in 1964 and spent his later career exclusively working in television.
