Karl H. Striedieck II, born April 7, 1937, is a notable glider pilot known for setting nine world records in the 1960s as a pioneer of ridge soaring in the Ridge-and-valley Appalachians. He was selected for the U.S. national soaring team twelve times and won silver medals in the world championships. A U.S. Air Force pilot from 1959 to 1962, he accumulated over 15,000 flight hours. Striedieck co-founded the Nittany Soaring Club and has been active in various flying activities. His legacy includes contributions to soaring and his continued involvement in the aviation community.
