Karole Armitage is an American dancer and choreographer born on March 3, 1954, currently based in New York City. She is the artistic director of Armitage Gone! Dance, a contemporary dance company that performs annually in New York City and tours internationally. In the 1980s, she earned the nickname 'punk ballerina' and is recognized for her innovative approach to dance. Armitage received a Tony nomination for her choreography in the Broadway musical Hair, further solidifying her status in the dance and theater communities.
