Károly Fendler, also known by pen names Faludi Péter and Faragó Károly, was a Hungarian orientalist and Korea researcher born on May 30, 1933, in Nagykanizsa and passed away on February 17, 2013, in Budapest. He began studying Korea in the early 1950s at Lomonosov University and continued his studies in Pyongyang on a scholarship from 1957. After his studies, he worked as a diplomat and later published articles in Hungarian, American, Taiwanese, and South Korean journals.
