Kartar Singh Thind was a prominent Indian botanist born on 30 October 1917 in Punjab, India. He held a doctorate in Plant Pathology from the University of Wisconsin. A professor at Panjab University, he specialized in mycology and phytopathology, authoring numerous research articles and books, including the recognized text 'Physiology of Fungi'. Thind was also a Fellow of the Indian Academy of Sciences and was awarded the FNA in 1967. He passed away on 3 December 1991, leaving a significant legacy in the field of botany.
