Kathleen A. Vellenga, born on August 5, 1938, is an American politician and novelist from Nebraska. She received her education degree from Macalester College and worked as an early childhood educator. Vellenga served in the Minnesota House of Representatives as a Democrat from 1981 to 1994. After her political career, she became the executive director of the St. Paul Children's Initiative. She is also an author, having published her first novel, Strangers in Our Midst, in 2013, followed by sequels in 2016 and 2021.
