A member of the German Bundestag since 2005, she has served as one of the party co-chairs of Die Linke alongside Bernd Riexinger since 2012. Before her tenure in the Bundestag, she was a member of the Saxon Parliament from 1999 to 2005 for the PDS. Kipping is associated with the Emancipatory Left faction within her party and does not align with the reform-oriented or leftist factions.
