Katri Karasma, born on July 31, 1945, in Helsinki, is an emeritus professor of language didactics at the Turku Teacher Training School. She has trained language teachers since 1979 and edited two honorary books for Professor Inkeri Vikainen in 1984 and 2014. Her research includes reading, writing, drama, literature, and language awareness. Karasma founded the journal Äidinkielen opetustiede and the Äidinkielen Opetustieteen Seura, contributing significantly to various literary and educational communities. She has also published autobiographical works and served as the chair of the Helsinki Region Language Teachers Association since 2015.
