She served as a member of the Tennessee Senate from the 33rd district from 2019 to 2022, representing the Democratic Party. Robinson founded a nursing college in 2015 and was elected to the Senate in the 2018 elections. However, her political career was marred by legal troubles, including an indictment on multiple charges of embezzlement. In 2022, she became the first member of the Tennessee Senate to be expelled after her conviction on four counts of wire fraud.
