Katsuhiko Sumii is a renowned Japanese horse trainer, born on March 28, 1964, in Kanazawa, Ishikawa. He gained fame for training Delta Blues and Pop Rock, the first and second placing horses in the prestigious 2006 Melbourne Cup. Besides these notable successes, he has also trained several other prominent horses, including Kane Hekili, Vodka, Victoire Pisa, and Epiphaneia. Sumii decided to retire in February 2021, choosing to continue his mother's legacy as an active member of the Tenrikyo religion.
