Katsumi Itō is a Japanese politician born on January 2, 1951. He served as the mayor of Gosen City in Niigata Prefecture for three terms and was the former mayor of Muramatsu and a member of the Muramatsu Town Council. After starting his career as a tile worker, he transitioned into politics at age 45. Itō won his first mayoral election in 2010 and was re-elected in 2014 and 2018. However, he lost the 2022 election to a newcomer. He is set to receive the Order of the Sacred Treasure in spring 2024.
