He studied at Osaka University, graduating in 1947, and later earned his Ph.D. from the University of Chicago under S. S. Chern in 1953. Nomizu became a professor at Brown University and co-authored the influential textbook 'Foundations of Differential Geometry' in 1963. He played a significant role in establishing the first US-Japan seminar on differential geometry in Kyoto in 1965. His work gained recognition through prestigious awards and efforts in mathematical translation.
