Katsuyoshi Sanematsu (born February 14, 1948) is a Japanese religious anthropologist and English education scholar. He is an emeritus professor at Rikkyo University. His main research areas include shamanism and the ancient history of Central and South America, with fieldwork conducted in Mexico, Guatemala, Peru, and Bolivia. He studies Indigenous cultures and religions from a unique perspective, focusing on Maya mythology, calendar and time concepts, Andean ecological thoughts, and the investigation of ancient cultures in the Bolivian Amazon (Mojos Project).
