Kesval Moonsamy was a prominent South African trade unionist and anti-apartheid activist. Born on July 5, 1926, he became known for his role in the 1956 Treason Trial, where he was one of the 156 accused individuals. After going into exile in 1965 due to political pressures, he returned to South Africa in 1991. Moonsamy played significant roles in politics, being elected treasurer of the South African Communist Party in 1997 and serving as an ANC Member of Parliament from 1999 to 2009. He passed away on June 21, 2017.
