Kazbek Šakimovič Valiev, born on May 5, 1952, is a Soviet and Kazakh mountaineer and geophysicist. He became the first Kazakh to summit Mount Everest as part of a Soviet expedition in 1982. Valiev began climbing in 1969 at the Kazakh Polytechnic Institute and later worked there as an assistant. Throughout his career, he has successfully summited 22 peaks in the Pamirs, including significant achievements on peaks such as Communism Peak and Khan Tengri. His notable climbing achievements have made him a respected figure in the mountaineering community.
