He joined TBS in April 1976, where he became well known as a personality on TV shows like 'The Best Ten' and was referred to as the 'successor to Hiroshi Kume.' He also hosted various radio programs and served as a sports caster on notable news shows. Matsumiya left TBS to work as a freelancer in June 1998 but tragically took his own life on September 27, 1999.
