Kazuo Chiba was a prominent Japanese Aikido master, born on February 5, 1940, in Tokyo, and passed away on June 5, 2015, at the age of 75. He dedicated much of his life to teaching Aikido in the UK and the US. As an 8th-degree black belt in Aikikai, he founded dojos in London and San Diego. Chiba was instrumental in establishing the International Aikido Federation known as Birankai and was recognized as representing the 'hard' aspect of Aikido, emphasizing weapon training. He began his gradual retirement in 2006.
