Kees Hillen was a Dutch artistic director and radio personality, born on January 25, 1946, in Amsterdam. He studied at gymnasium A in Rotterdam and later pursued musicology at Utrecht University. Hillen worked for VARA, eventually becoming head of the music department. He served as the promotion director for Donemus and was appointed as the artistic director of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra in 1990. In 2000, he became the head of classical music at AVRO. Hillen passed away on May 16, 2004, at the age of 58 due to an incurable disease.
