Kei Moriyama (1904-1991) was a Japanese poet and novelist from Niigata Prefecture. He spent his childhood in Toyama and later moved to Fukui City. After briefly attending various schools including Fourth High School and Tokyo Imperial University, he became involved in proletarian literature before dropping out. He published his first work in 1932 and received several literary awards throughout his career. His story 'Saburo and Wakae' became the basis for the film 'Delinquent Girl'. Moriyama continued to write until his death in 1991 while living in Ishikawa Prefecture.
