Keiji Tachikawa is a prominent Japanese aerospace executive born on May 27, 1939, in Gifu Prefecture. He graduated from the University of Tokyo in Electrical Engineering and later earned an MBA from MIT and a Ph.D. from the University of Tokyo. Tachikawa began his career at Nippon Telegraph & Telephone (NTT) before becoming president of its subsidiary NTT DoCoMo. In 2004, he took the helm of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) to lead its restructuring following a significant rocket launch failure in 2003.
