Keïta Fatoumata 'Fanta' Diallo, born on January 30, 1943, in Bamako, is the third wife of former Malian President Modibo Keïta. She grew up in a family of a postal worker and attended primary school but did not finish secondary education. Their marriage was arranged due to Keïta's lack of children with his previous wives. Diallo led a quiet life and worked as an archivist after a coup in 1968 until her husband's death in 1977. She has two daughters, one of whom tragically took her own life.
