Keita Genji (1912 - 1985) was a Japanese novelist from Toyama. He graduated from the former Toyama Commercial School and began writing while working at Sumitomo Gassho. He won the Naoki Prize for his works including 'Eigo-ya-san'. His humorous novels, such as 'Santo Juyaku' and 'Teinen Taishoku', were based on his long corporate life experiences. As a best-selling author in post-war Japan, many of his works were adapted into films. In his later years, he wrote many ghost stories. His pen name reflects his preference for the Genji clan and a fondness for the character '鶏'.
