Alan Keith Peterson (born February 2, 1956) is a prominent Canadian politician and member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Cambridge Bay, Nunavut. He served as Minister of Finance from 2008 to 2017, becoming the longest-serving finance minister in Canada. Peterson previously held positions such as Minister of Justice and Minister of Health. With a background in municipal governance, he was the mayor of Cambridge Bay prior to becoming an MLA. He has also been involved in economic development for the Kitikmeot region and played key roles in various Inuit organizations.
