He worked for the British Antarctic Survey and took part in the Commonwealth Trans-Antarctic Expedition from 1955 to 1958, led by Vivian Fuchs. Blaiklock spent a total of 14 years in Antarctica, making him the person who had spent the longest time in the region prior to others.
