Bolek's coaching career began in 1979 at Cuyahoga Community College, leading the team to become Ohio Junior College champions. He later worked as a graduate assistant at Mississippi State University, contributing to a team that reached the College World Series in 1981, and spent time coaching in the major leagues with the Cleveland Indians in the 1990s.
