Ken Colyer was a British jazz trumpeter born on April 18, 1928. He joined the Crane River Jazz Band in 1949, playing alongside notable musicians like clarinetist Monty Sunshine. Later, he played lead trumpet for Chris Barber's band. In 1971, he was diagnosed with stomach cancer, which temporarily sidelined his music career. He returned to music and continued to perform into the 1980s. Colyer spent his last years in southern France, where he passed away at the age of 59 on March 8, 1988.
