Initially an independent, he joined the People's National Congress Party and served as Minister for Housing and Urban Development under Peter O'Neill. Known for his outspoken opposition to environmental amendments, he criticized the Pacific Marine Industrial Zone project. Fairweather lost his seat in the 2017 election and passed away on October 24, 2022.
