Ken Jones was a Welsh sports journalist born on October 11, 1931, in Merthyr Tudful. He was the son of footballer Emlyn Jones and nephew of Bryn Jones. Originally a football player, he played for Southend United and Gravesend & Northfleet but was forced to retire early due to injury. He later worked as a journalist for the Daily Mirror and Sunday Mirror before becoming a sports writer for the Independent in 1986. He passed away on September 26, 2019.
