Kenji Usui (March 30, 1924 - December 24, 2017) was a prominent Japanese ballet dancer, choreographer, dance educator, dance critic, and dance historian. He studied ballet under Eiichi Ashihara and Yusaku Higashi and was active in the Japanese ballet scene after World War II. His extensive collection of ballet-related documents and literature, started in the 1930s, is considered one of the world’s finest collections. Usui served as a judge in various international ballet competitions and became the fourth president of the Japanese Ballet Association in 2006.
