Kenryū Taketora was a former sumo wrestler affiliated with the Tokitsukaze stable, born on January 15, 1932, in Kama City, Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan. His real name was Ryūichi Matsumoto. Standing at 168 cm and weighing 81 kg, he achieved his highest rank as East Jūryō 1. He was known for his skills in sumo, particularly his left-hand grip technique and underarm throw. He was also the father of another sumo wrestler, Kyoho Jōshi.
