Kent Richard Markus, born on February 1, 1959, is an American attorney and currently serves as bar counsel and general counsel for the Columbus Bar Association. His previous roles include Senior Advisor and Director of Enforcement at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, and Counselor and Chief Legal Counsel to Ohio Governor Ted Strickland. Markus has also been a law professor at Capital University Law School and a senior official at the U.S. Department of Justice during President Clinton's administration. He was nominated for a federal judgeship on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.
