Ketema Yifru was a prominent Ethiopian diplomat and politician, born on December 12, 1929, and served as Foreign Minister of Ethiopia from 1961 to 1970. He played a significant role in establishing the Organization of African Unity. Having risen from a farmer's background through education, he held various government positions, including Minister of Commerce, Industry & Tourism. After being imprisoned by the Derg regime from 1974 to 1982, he joined the World Food Programme until his death from pancreatic cancer on January 14, 1994.
