Kevin Gerard Barry was an Irish medical student and nationalist, born on January 20, 1902, and executed by hanging on November 1, 1920. He was the first person to be executed by Britain after the execution of 16 Irish rebels in May 1916, following the Easter Rising. At the age of 18, he was accused of being involved in an incident where three British soldiers were shot. Barry was buried in Glasnevin Cemetery, the main Catholic cemetery in Dublin. He reported mistreatment in Mountjoy Prison shortly before his execution.
