Kevin Melvyn Curren is a former professional tennis player from Durban, South Africa, born on March 2, 1958. Standing tall, he was known for his powerful flat serve. Curren reached two Grand Slam singles finals, both on grass, and won four Grand Slam doubles titles. He and Johan Kriek are the only South African male players to have appeared in the top ten of the world rankings. Curren made history in 1985 as the second South African (after Brian Norton) to reach the Wimbledon men's singles final, defeating three former champions before losing to Boris Becker.
