He graduated from the Romanos Melikian State Conservatory in 1957 and was honored as a distinguished artist of Soviet Armenia. Shirakyan contributed significantly to Armenian music and was recognized for his talent throughout his life. He passed away at the age of 70 on February 9, 2001, in Yerevan, leaving behind a legacy in the world of music.
