Khadg Singh Valdiya was an esteemed Indian geologist born on 20 March 1937. He served as the vice chancellor of Kumaon University and was renowned for his significant contributions to geodynamics and Environmental Science. His work earned him international recognition and he received the Padma Shri in 2007, followed by the Padma Bhushan in 2015 from the Government of India, which are among the highest civilian honors in India. Valdiya passed away on 29 September 2020.
