Khalid al-Maaly is an Iraqi poet, journalist, and literary translator born on April 15, 1956, near Samawah, Iraq. He published his first poetry work in 1978 and left Iraq for political reasons, moving to Beirut, then France, and finally settling in Germany in August 1980. In 1983, he founded Al-Jamal Publications in Cologne and co-published a magazine named Paradies in 1990. He later established the magazine Ayoune in 1995 and has received several awards for his literary contributions.
