Khantipalo, born Lawrence Mills in 1932 near London, is a prominent Buddhist monk and one of the three patriarchs of Buddhism in Australia. He became a monk in India in the late 1950s after discovering Buddhism through a book by Christmas Humphreys. He practiced meditation under various teachers in India and Thailand from 1963 to 1973. He co-founded Wat Budda Dhamma in New South Wales and returned to London in 1995, later marrying and co-founding the Bodhi Citta Buddhist Centre in Cairns.
