Khawla Dunia, born August 2, 1968, is a Syrian poet, journalist, researcher, and humanitarian aid worker from Damascus, with family roots in Hama. Despite her Alawite background, she identifies as an atheist and has faced challenges within the Syrian opposition. An advocate for refugee rights, she works in Lebanon since fleeing Syria in 2013. Dunia has published several studies and poetry collections, acts as chair of the Syrian Relief and Humanitarian Development Foundation, 'Najda Now', and has been recognized for her human rights activism, highlighting the role of women in the Syrian revolution.
