Kim Friele (born Karen-Christine Wilhelmsen) was a Norwegian human rights and LGBTQ rights activist, known for being the first Norwegian to publicly acknowledge her sexuality in June 1965. From 1966 to 1971, she led the secret organization Forbundet av 1948, serving as its general secretary until 1989. In 1977, she began a relationship with politician Wenche Lowzow, and in 1993, they were among the first to formalize their union when same-sex partnerships were legalized. Friele authored several books on human rights and LGBTQ issues starting in 1970.
