General (Ret.) Kim Jang-soo is a notable South Korean military leader who served as the 37th Chief of Staff of the Republic of Korea Army and the 40th Minister of National Defense. He graduated from the Republic of Korea Military Academy in 1971 and later obtained a master’s degree at Yonsei University. His significant military positions included roles in operational planning and command. Kim was a member of the Grand National Party in the National Assembly from 2008 to 2012. As of March 2015, he was appointed as Korea's Ambassador to China.
