After moving to the US for performances, she debuted in South Korea in 1983 with the song 'Mokpo Blues'. She gained fame in the late 1980s and 1990s with hits such as 'Mulreya' and 'Yalmiun Sarang'. Though facing personal challenges, including a divorce, she made a comeback in 2000 and continues to re-record her classic songs.
