Lowinzo Misiedjan, known as King Koyeba, is a Surinamese musician born on January 11, 1985, in Paramaribo, Suriname. He is of Maroon descent and sings predominantly in creole (aukan) and Sranan Tongo. At sixteen, he formed the band Ghetto Crew with a friend, releasing two albums before launching his solo career in August 2004 as King Koyeba. He gained recognition in 2005 through a series of performances in the Netherlands and has since become a prominent figure in Surinamese Maroon music.
