Karl Klaus Salmi was a Finnish trombonist, singer, and songwriter, born on December 3, 1908, in Helsinki. He also performed under the pseudonym Kaarlo Kurki. From 1931 to 1952, Salmi led the Ramblers, recognized as the first Finnish orchestra to truly represent jazz. Prior to his time with the Ramblers, he played trumpet and trombone in various groups starting in 1927. He passed away on July 10, 1987, in Kuopio.
