Niels Knud Meister was a Danish journalist, editor, and author, born on May 28, 1913, in Copenhagen and passed away on December 20, 1989. He gained fame for writing popular children's book series, including 81 Jan books and 58 Puk books, in collaboration with Carlo Andersen. Often recognized for their engaging narratives, these series were translated into several languages and even adapted into films. Additionally, he penned eight adult crime novels in the 1940s. Meister was the father of journalist Birgit Meister and is buried at Mariebjerg Cemetery in Gentofte.
