Kō Nishihara (January 28, 1919 - December 25, 1983) was a Japanese playwright and children's literature writer born in Tokyo. Also known by the pen name Akutsu Mitsu, he graduated from the Oriental Literature Department of Toyo University. While a student, he wrote scripts for children's plays and joined the Theatre Piccolo. At the age of 20, he published a collection of children's plays titled 'Hana Hiraku.' In 1946, he worked as a contractor for NHK's children's program division.
