He played for Kintetsu Buffaloes, Orix Buffaloes, and Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles during his career, excelling as a switch hitter and fielder. Oshima won three golden glove awards and two Best Nine awards and later served as a hitting coach for the Orix Buffaloes after his retirement. He also represented Japan in the 1992 Summer Olympics, winning a bronze medal before entering professional leagues.
