Kokkai Futoshi, born Lewan Merab Zaguria on March 10, 1981, in Suchumi, Abkhazia, is a former Georgian sumo wrestler. His shikona, 'Kokkai', translates to 'Black Sea', referencing his heritage. He began competing in sumo in 2001 and reached the Makuuchi division by 2004. Notably, he was the first European in the Makuuchi rank. Kokkai gained recognition for defeating Yokozuna Asashōryū in July 2005 and received the Kanto-Shō for his fighting spirit. He retired in 2012 due to poor health, and he planned to return to Georgia.
