Omoba Benjamin Aderounmu, known as Kokoro, was a blind minstrel from Lagos, Nigeria. Born into a royal family in Owo, he lost his sight at age ten. A pioneer of Jùjú music, Kokoro sang in Yoruba, addressing themes like love and urban life. Influenced by local musicians, he gained recognition during the 1960s and 1970s. Despite facing hardships including homelessness, he received a two-bedroom apartment from a governor in 2007. Kokoro passed away in 2009 shortly before his album release, leaving a legacy in Nigerian music.
